page under constu There’s a ton of small details and confusion surrounding K-swaps and the K-series shifting system in general. Hopefully this article can help set you straight. K-series shifting system can be broken down into 3 sections:
- Shift mechanism
- Shifter cables (w/respective bracketry)
- Shifter box assembly
The shift mechanism is mounted on the K transmission side and dictates what cables and shifter box you can use. The shifter cables are what bridge the shift mechanism to the shifter box assembly. The shifter box is the shifter box – the device that allows one to “bUsS tHrU GeArZ”. Thankfully, companies like Hybrid Racing, Acuity, and K-Tuned offer awesome K-series shifting system upgrades and particular solutions for certain K drivetrain scenarios.
5.5" CRK Pulley Belt Matrix
This 5.5″ diameter crank pulley weighing in at 4.18lbs is found on the following engines: JDM DC5/EP3/FD2 K20A Type-R engines / USDM K20Z1 05-06 Type-S engine. It’s the smallest diameter crank pulley Honda makes for the K-series. Dubbed the PRC or RRC crank pulley. It can offer some quick revs due to its smaller size and but is oddly .3 ounces heavier than the 5-3/4″ crank pulley, so it can offer some very light rotational damping.

5-3/4" CRK Pulley Belt Matrix
This 5-3/4″ (5.80″) diameter crank pulley weighing in at 4.15lbs, is found on the following engines: USDM K20A2 + K20Z3 / EDM K20Z4 / JDM FN2 & CL7 K20A Type-R engines. A slightly larger diameter pulley than the 5.5″ DC5/EP3/FD2 K20A Type-R crank pulley but is .3 ounces lighter offering some quicker revs you may or may not notice by the seat of your pants.

6-1/8" CRK Pulley Belt Matrix
This big 6-1/8″ diameter crank pulley weighing in at 4.66lbs offers some good damping at its heavier and larger size but it can steal quick revs due to its heavier nature; it is found on the following engines: USDM K24A2 + K20A3 / CAN K20Z2 / UK K24A3 + eco variant K20A / JDM K24A RBB + eco variant K20A engines. K-swappers tend to switch away from this big-ass pulley opting for the lighter and smaller diameter 5.80″ or 5.5″ pulley’s for the quicker revs.
